DIY projects are great in theory, right?  Pinterest markets them as cute and easy to do.  The reality is, however, that most of them leave you feeling like a worthless shmuck and all you have to show for it is a mess of various materials that would definitely take First place in a “Fail” competition.
While this may be the case with most DIY projects, it is not the case with the project we are going to tell you about today.

Wait for it….

Faux wall paneling.
Yep, you heard us.  Wall panels that aren’t actually real.  Well, they are real as in they are actual physical products, but they are made to mimic stone, brick and wood without actually being made out of stone, brick or wood.  Pretty cool, huh?

The best part about these bad boys is that they are completely DIY.  We will often get phone calls at Faux Direct of people asking if they need to hire a contractor and if we have any relationships with any.  We are always pleased to tell them that “No! No contractors are necessary!”  In fact, you can save a whole lotta time and cash by installing them all by yourself.  Faux wall paneling truly is a mess free, DIY project that just about anyone can install.

How are they installed?
Faux wall panels are installed using simple screws, adhesive (such as liquid nails), and standard caulking.  That’s it.  No moisture barrier necessary.  No crazy chainsaws or heavy machinery required.  All you need is a screwdriver and an exact-o knife, and you can have a faux wall paneled wall completed in a matter of hours.

What are they used for?
The most common thing people use faux wall paneling for are accent walls.  You can create a wall that looks like authentic brick, stone or wood in no time and it really does wonders to transform a simple space.  You can also use them to create kitchen backsplashes, bathrooms that feel like spa getaways, man caves, and even as exterior paneling!

Are they durable?
You bet your bottom dollar they are.  They are about as durable as it gets!  Faux wall panels are impervious to moisture, weatherproof, UV resistant, and resistant to mold/mildew/rot.  Doesn’t get much better than that folks!
