Once you have made the decision to conquer a DIY faux stone paneling project, you need to know how to properly apply them.  It is surprisingly a lot easier than people think it is going to be.  If you look at a completed faux stone paneled wall, for instance, without knowing it is faux stone, you would probably be inclined to thing that it took hours with an entire construction team.  That is exactly how your guests are going to feel once they see your completed project, and you can rest with the satisfaction of a job well done.  You may even have a list of friends who want to borrow your talent, and could start up a little side business!  Are we getting carried away?

Applying your faux stone paneling is as easy as 1-2-3, abc, as best said by the Jackson Five.  First off, once your panels have arrived, remove them from the packaging and place them in the room (or outside) where they will be applied.  For 24 hours, the stone panels need to get used to the temperature and humidity level.  Kind of like bringing home a new fish, except not.  After the 24 hours has passed, you can now officially begin your project.  Turn on your favorite jams, gather your standard tools (exacto knife and drill) and either your caulk or glue.

Follow the instruction guide.  If you do not follow the instructions, not only are you considered a rebel, but you probably will mess up your project.  Just sayin’.  We are not responsible for any faux stone paneled walls that look like a kindergartener completed it.  You can find the step-by-step tutorial on our ‘Resources’ tab.  You will first need to lie out your panels to get a feel for the design you are going for.  You can also cut the edges so each panel is not the exact same size, giving the stone a more authentic look.  Apply your caulk or glue to the back of the panel, leaving a several inch border.  Press the panel onto the wall, and secure with screws.

Once you have completed the entire wall, you can touch up any imperfections or visible screws with the touch up paint.  At Faux Direct, we think of little things like that because we want you to have the most seamless experience as possible. Final step: enjoy!
